Yichuan YizhuanLine statement
Nine in the Third Place, being firm, occupies a correct position atop the lower trigram. In a time of Obstruction, those below are all yielding lines and must rely on the Third, which is why it is supported by those below.
The Third and the Top are proper partners, but the Top is yin, yielding, and without position, insufficient to provide aid; therefore, advancing upward brings obstruction. 'Coming' means descending; 'returning' means turning back to one's home.
The Third is delighted in by the two yin lines below, so coming back means returning to its proper place, a place of relative safety and peace.

'The inside' refers to the yin lines below. In a time of Obstruction, the yin and yielding cannot stand on their own; hence they all attach themselves to the yang of Nine in the Third Place, cherishing it with affection.
