I Ching casting

Nine at the fourth place initiates the upper trigram of Heaven, transforming the reading toward Hexagram 20 (Contemplation). Classical tradition reads 'having a mandate, no blame, fellows share the blessing' as the emergence of coordinated action to dismantle systemic deadlock.

In plain words, when you align your initiatives with the broader good and coordinate with capable allies, prolonged obstacles naturally begin to clear.

Career

In workplace dynamics, the fourth line represents a pivotal liaison between executive leadership and operational teams who receives a clear directive to resolve lingering blockages.

The classical commentary highlights that your intended course can now be carried out because legitimate authority and lower-tier trust finally converge. To put it simply, step up to lead collaborative initiatives and share credit generously to keep the momentum going.

Love & relationships

In romantic matters, this line signals an overdue thaw in communication, opening the door to resolve persistent cold spells or misunderstandings.

Because this line resonates with the initial yin line, mutual empathy exists beneath the surface and requires only a clear, constructive gesture to re-establish connection. Simply put, break the silence with an honest proposal for moving forward together, and warmth will return.

Wealth

From a financial perspective, frozen resources or stalled collective ventures begin to circulate as transparent agreements take shape.

The phrase 'fellows share the blessing' emphasizes mutual benefit, indicating that success lies in transparent partnerships rather than isolated speculation.

In brief, work through structured, shared arrangements where all parties have clear incentives, and financial stagnation will lift.

Zhouyi BenyiLine statement

Standstill (Stagnation) has passed its middle; it is the time when deliverance is about to come.

Nine in the Fourth Place is a yang line dwelling in a yin position, not carrying its firmness to an extreme; hence its divination is that receiving the mandate brings no blame, and the companions of the three yang lines all obtain their blessing.

'Mandate' refers to the mandate of Heaven.

Yichuan YizhuanLine statement

Nine in the Fourth Place, with yang firmness and a strong nature, occupies a position close to the ruler; thus, endowed with the talent to resolve standstill, it has attained high office, sufficient to assist the sovereign and overcome obstruction.

However, when the ruler's way is currently obstructed and one dwells in close proximity, what is to be feared is claiming credit and incurring suspicion.

If one can ensure that every action stems from the sovereign's mandate and authority rests entirely with the ruler above, then there will be no blame and one's will can be carried out.

Being able to ensure that all matters proceed from the sovereign's mandate, one can resolve the standstill of the times, and one's companions will all partake in the blessing. 'Lí' means to adhere.

When the superior man's way is practiced, he advances together with his kind to relieve the world's standstill; this is 'companions adhere to blessing.' The advance of small men likewise occurs with their kind.
